The short version
PocketPOS is an offline app. Your products, sales, customers, and shop settings are stored only on your device. We do not run a server for your shop data, we have no user accounts, and we never receive, see, or store your sales or your customers' details. The app talks to the network for exactly three optional things: checking the app store for an update, showing ads, and processing a subscription purchase — all described below.
1. Who we are
PocketPOS ("the app", "we", "us") is a point-of-sale application published by Appix Engine, Bangladesh. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app. Questions go to appixengine@yahoo.com.
2. Data you store in the app
Everything you enter is written to your device's private app storage — a local SQLite database, a local settings store, and image files in the app's documents folder. None of it is uploaded to us.
| What | Examples | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Catalogue | Products, prices, stock levels, barcodes, categories, product photos | On device |
| Sales | Cart contents, totals, discounts, payment method, receipts, invoice due dates | On device |
| Customers | Name, and optionally phone, email, notes — only if you choose to add them | On device |
| Shop settings | Shop name, logo, currency, language, tax settings, paired printer | On device |
| Imports | Spreadsheet (.xlsx/.csv) files you pick for bulk product import | Read on device, not uploaded |
3. What we do not collect
- No account, sign-up, login, or password — the app has no user accounts at all.
- No copy of your products, sales, revenue, or customer records is ever sent to us.
- No cloud sync and no server-side backup of your shop.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDK collecting your in-app behaviour.
- We do not sell or rent any data, because we do not hold any.
4. Device permissions and why we ask
Every permission is used for one visible feature, and the app keeps working (minus that feature) if you decline.
Camera
Scanning barcodes and QR codes at checkout and when adding products. Frames are processed on the device in real time to read the code — no photo or video is stored or transmitted.
Photos / storage
Picking a product photo or shop logo from your gallery or camera, choosing a spreadsheet to import, and saving backups and exported reports where you ask.
Bluetooth
Finding and connecting to your thermal receipt printer. Used only to print; no printer or device data leaves your phone.
Location (Android 11 and below only)
Older Android versions required the location permission before an app could scan for Bluetooth devices. We use it solely to discover printers. We never request, read, store, or share your actual location. Android 12+ does not ask for it.
Notifications
Local reminders for due invoices. These are scheduled and shown by your device; nothing is sent through a push server.
Vibration & internet
Vibration confirms a successful scan. Internet access is used only for the three third-party purposes in section 5.
5. Third-party services
These are the only cases where data leaves your device, and none of them involve your shop's records.
App update check
The app asks Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) whether a newer version exists, sending only the app's identifier and installed version. Your shop data is not involved.
Purchases and subscriptions
Paid plans (monthly, yearly, lifetime) are handled entirely by Google Play Billing or Apple StoreKit. Payment is made to the store, not to us — we never see your card number, billing address, or store account. The app only receives a confirmation that a purchase is active. See the Google Privacy Policy and the Apple Privacy Policy.
Google AdMob
Serves the ads shown in the free version — see section 6.
6. Advertising
The free version of PocketPOS shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure them, AdMob may collect device-level information such as your advertising identifier, IP address, device model, operating system, and general (non-precise) location derived from your IP. This is collected by Google, not by us — we receive only aggregate earnings figures and cannot link any ad to you.
Your shop data is never used for advertising. Products, sales, and customer records are not shared with AdMob or any advertiser.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking), and where required by law the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads. Upgrading to a paid plan removes ads entirely. Details: How Google uses data in AdMob.
7. Backups, exports and sharing
The app can pack your entire shop — database, settings, product photos and logo — into a single
.pocketpos
backup file, and can export reports and receipts as PDF, Excel or CSV. These files are created on your device
and handed to your system share sheet, so you decide where they go — local storage, a cloud
drive, email, a messaging app.
Note: a backup file is not encrypted or password-protected, and it contains your customer records. Once you send it somewhere, that destination's privacy policy applies, not ours. Keep backups somewhere you trust. We never receive a copy.
Your operating system may also include app data in its own device backup (Android Auto Backup, iCloud/iTunes backup). That is controlled by your device settings and covered by Google's or Apple's privacy policy.
8. How long data is kept, and how to delete it
Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep it there. You are in full control:
- Delete individual products, customers, or sales from inside the app.
- Clear everything at once from the app's settings, or via Settings → Apps → PocketPOS → Clear storage on Android.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data permanently. Export a backup first if you want to keep it — we cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.
Because we hold no copy of your shop data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.
9. Your customers' data
If you record customer names, phone numbers, emails or notes, that information belongs to you and stays on your device. Under data-protection laws such as the GDPR, you are the data controller for it and we are not a processor of it, since it never reaches us. You are responsible for collecting it lawfully, telling your customers what you do with it, honouring their requests, and keeping your device secure.
10. Security
App data is stored in your device's private application storage, which other apps cannot read on a non-rooted/non-jailbroken device. Because there is no server and no account, there is no remote database of your shop to be breached. The practical risk is physical: anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app. We strongly recommend a device screen lock, keeping your OS updated, and storing backup files somewhere private.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data held about you, and to object to or restrict its processing. For data inside PocketPOS you can exercise all of these yourself and immediately — it is on your device, and the app lets you view, edit, export, and delete it.
For the limited data handled by Google (ads, Play services) or Apple (App Store, purchases), please use their own privacy controls, linked above. If you believe we hold personal data about you, contact us at appixengine@yahoo.com and we will respond within 30 days.
12. Children
PocketPOS is a business tool intended for merchants and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes we will also note it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
